The plan is for a vote would happen in November of 2024. Many other milestones must be met before then.
The feasibility study process began in January 2023, scheduled to conclude by August 2023. This and the proposed municipal charter would be available for the community to review before they are submitted to our local delegation on September 1, 2023. At that point, the study and charter are reviewed by committees at the state level before a delegate vote. It would then move to Tallahassee for consideration as a local bill.
Assuming the local bill clears all the committees and subcommittees in Tallahassee and passes both the Florida House and Flordia Senate, the governor would then sign the bill into law. At that point, the referendum is in the hand of our local citizens who have the right to vote on municipal incorporation for themselves.
If the referendum passes here in our community, in November 2024, Perdido would officially become a town by December 31, 2024.
