No. Releasing this information would be against our privacy policy and well-defined best practices for nonprofit organizations.
Very few nonprofits publish this type of information. If individual donors wish to share their financial support voluntarily, that is entirely their decision, and we support them. We are very transparent and forthcoming about expenses and where funds are going. Please read on to learn what information we do share and the reasoning.
We Are Perdido has registered as a 501(c)4 nonprofit at the federal level, and a Florida nonprofit at the state level. Nonprofits like We Are Perdido are focused on social welfare and the social good. This is the exact same structure used by Envision Perdido, Inc., from 2008 to 2012 in the previous municipal incorporation effort.
We Are Perdido exists to provide education and educational resources to the citizens of the Perdido community concerning municipal incorporation.
Nonprofit organizations in the United States rarely publish specific donor information. Some donors voluntarily share their support with the general public. Others do not. Donor privacy is a well-understood aspect of both fundraising and charitable contributions. Most donors don’t want their information shared simply because other organizations will then solicit donations. Many do not want the publicity, while others welcome it. Leaving this decision up to the donor is considered best practice in the nonprofit world.
There are specific requirements for 501(c)4 nonprofit organizations such as ours, both at the state and federal levels. We Are Perdido complies with all reporting requirements as laid out at both of these levels. IRS Form 990 Schedule B requires certain nonprofits to report donors over a certain threshold.
All organizations soliciting donations in Florida must register with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. These organizations must report all officers who control the distribution of funds and provide year-end accounting of how donated funds were spent. This report is public information. A copy of the official registration and certified financial information may be obtained from the Division of Consumer Services by calling toll-free (800-435-7352) within the state. Our registration number is #CH70901
We have published a complete list of our expected expenses and will publicly release updates with actual expenditures to show we are committed to staying on track financially. We are also fundraising in stages to avoid overfunding the effort. To date, in-house volunteer efforts have saved over $10,000. We run a tight ship and expect to save more as we go. Consider joining your Perdido neighbors and investing in the future of our community.
A COPY OF THE OFFICIAL REGISTRATION AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION MAY BE OBTAINED FROM THE DIVISION OF CONSUMER SERVICES BY CALLING TOLL-FREE (800-435-7352) WITHIN THE STATE. REGISTRATION DOES NOT IMPLY ENDORSEMENT, APPROVAL, OR RECOMMENDATION BY THE STATE. As a 501(c)4 organization, charitable contributions are not tax-deductible.
